Hello,
Attached is the 1607 riveli for Filippa DiPalermo from Marineo, Sicily.
I have to assume her husband is dead but I don't see him listed. Do you?
Also, it looks like there are two children named Vincenzo. I've never seen this before. Is it possible that Vincenzo was the father or am I reading it incorrectly.
Chris
Interesting find and question
Re: Interesting find and question
She's a widow. The word for widow is the last word on right of top line. Both Vincenzos are her sons. The older one is 14. The younger one is 6.
Re: Interesting find and question
Thanks Erudita.
Have you ever seen a family where two children have the same first name? I was thinking it's possible if one of the children changed their name after the father died. But I'm assuming the father was Vincenzo.

Chris
My husband has an identical situation in his ancestry. His paternal grandfather was a Vincenzo, born in 1891. Vincenzo had a brother, also named Vincenzo, born in 1906. The grandfather died in 1943, and his brother died in 1921 at the age of 15. They had a paternal grandfather named Vincenzo, as well as a maternal grandfather named Vincenzo. So possibly the first Vincenzo (1891) was named for their father's father, and the second Vincenzo (1906) was named for their mother's father. This is the only time, other than seeing it in your record, that I have seen a second son named Vincenzo, without the first one having been dead when he was born.

Re: Interesting find and question
I've seen it happen before, where the same family has 2 children with the same name while, both alive at the same time. Sometimes, though, they one of the children didn't have the name at birth but started using it later on.
Re: Interesting find and question
You're very welcome, Chris.

Re: Interesting find and question
Here is a case from 1893 where 2 twins were given the same name:

But one of them was stillborn, so it's not the same situation obviously.
