Hi. I was hoping someone could do a thorough translation of this birth record for my great grandfather, Vincenzo Russo. I understand it is an 1899 registration in Teggiano of his birth occurring in Brooklyn, New York in 1892. But curious as to what else it says as it seems there’s a lot more here.

Dated June 23, 1899 in Tegiano (spelling in the record)
Appearing at the town hall there was Cono (sp?) Russo, age 40, with a copy of the act of birth of his son, Vincenzo. He was requesting that it be transcribed exactly and entered into the register of births of this town. The copy was from the Italian church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Eighth Street and Union Ave. in Brooklyn, NY. It was a certificate of birth and baptism. Vincenzo Russo, son of Cono Russo and Concetta D'Elia, was born on the 19th of November 1892 and baptized on the 21st of Nov. in the already stated year. Godparents were Giovanni Abbondanza and Maria D'Elia. The document was signed by the parish priest. It was then signed for legalization by the Regio Vice Consul of New York and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Rome.
Following the transcription, the copy was inserted into the volume of allegati of this register (in Teggiano). It was signed by the witnesses. Russo was illiterate and did not sign the document.
