Olivo Family

Post by rymini »

I have hit a dead end trying to research family history and was wondering if there is someplace else I can look.
My Great Grandfather was Francesco Olivo his immigration record states home as Udine and his father's name as Pietro. My Grandmother's name states Maria Arbolina from Cesa and they had a child named Guiseppe in July 1907 that was born in italy. Francesco best as I can tell had two sisters Rosa Olivo Lepre and Angelina Olivo Verdi

If anyone can help provide me with the next piece of the puzzle it would be greatly appreciated.

On Udine State's archive it are only 3 Francesco Olivo, but nobody son of Pietro; you sure that the father was Pietro; on the ship's manifest Francesco next of kin is Maria wife ( ALBORINO maiden name by arrival in 1914) in Udine...

here the Olivo Francesco records by Udine Udine State's archive website:

Hi rymini and suanj,
rymini wrote:...My Great Grandfather was Francesco Olivo his immigration record states home as Udine and his father's name as Pietro. My Grandmother's name states Maria Arbolina from Cesa....
Would his wife and son be from Cesa Caserta, almost 900 km from Udine?
Can't figure out what another possibility could be for their comune...
On the Nov 1913 they're joining a Francesco Olivo in Netcong (Morris County) New Jersey (changed from NY NY)

another 1913 manifest possibility?
this Francesco is from Cesa

If your family is from Cesa, Caserta, Campania
ancestry. com has civil records for Cesa online for 1862-1939 in Italian

Caserta, Campania, Italy, Civil Registration Records, 1862-1939

Wow thank you all for such a quick response. Udine came off of his immigration records and Pietro came from his military records. I do belong to Ancenstry and I have the records indicated above. I agree North & South Italy a weird situation ~ thinking maybe Pietro was from Udine and Francesco went home to help with something ~ They did move to Netcong, where I currently reside.

Hi Valarie,
Olivo is a popular surname; maybe the poster:
My Grandmother's name states Maria Arbolina from Cesa and they had a child named Guiseppe in July 1907
found the Giuseppe Olivo ship's manifest
http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipM ... 0291%2ETIF
father Francesco Olivo also and he thinked that was the son and wife of Francesco Olivo of Udine...
it is possible that the wife of Francesco Olivo of Udine was another Maria and not Maria Alborino? this surname is not in Udine area...
if the poster can say us if he is pretty sure abt Maria maiden name it can be helpful for search progress... Me too think that is very strange that a man of Udine marrying in Cesa....

here another trip of Francesco Olivo born in Udine:
Border Crossings: From Canada to U.S., 1895-1956
about Francisco Olivo Name: Francisco Olivo
Arrival Date: 8 Dec 1921
Age: 39
Birth Date: abt 1882

Race/Nationality: Italian (North) (Italian)

Port of Arrival: Niagara Falls, New York, USA
Record has photo?: No

http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/1382/olivoa.jpg

again:
Border Crossings: From Canada to U.S., 1895-1956
about Francesco Olivo Name: Francesco Olivo
Arrival Date: 24 Dec 1921
Age: 39
Birth Date: abt 1882
Birth Country: Italy
Gender: Male

Port of Arrival: Niagara Falls, New York, USA

in the 1921 the wife was in Udine...
pag 1 http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/6544/olivo3.jpg
pag 2 http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1501/olivo4.jpg
now it are 2 possibilities:
1. or Maria Luigia Alborino is not the wife of Francesco Olivo of Udine
2. or Francesco Olivo born in Udine, it was not the ancestor of poster..

same thing in trip of 1913:
Border Crossings: From Canada to U.S., 1895-1956
about Francesco Olivo Name: Francesco Olivo
Arrival Date: 11 Aug 1913
Age: 30

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8936/olivo1.jpg

and 1917 trip:
Michigan Passenger and Crew Lists, 1903-1965
about Francesco Olivio Name: Francesco Olivio
Arrival Date: 9 Apr 1917
Port of Arrival: Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan
Last Resided: Ontario, Canada
Age: 35
Birth Date: 1882
Birth Location: Udine, Italy

Record Type: Card

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/6070/olivo5.jpg
so seeming that Francesco Olivo coming from Udine had the wife Maria in Udine almost until 1921!!!

:D Hi rymini and suanj
Thank you :D , I thought it was odd - that is quite a distance
I'm not sure, but we may have two Francesco Olivo's married to women with similar names?
The 1906 marriage record from Cesa is a Francesco Olivo marrying Maria Luigia Alborino(?)
These may be the folks from Netcong, Morris, NJ?

rymini but you are sure that your ancestor coming from Udine? I believe he was born in Cesa: by birth act, the Francesco's father was Giuseppe Olivo (no Pietro) and the mother Maddalena Marino..

I agree, Cesa looks correct
Thank you so much for translating the parents' names - I couldn't decipher the mother's name on either the 1882 birth record or 1906 marriage record
