SALVATO, JAMES, (DoB)8.14.1902 - 2.7.1985

Hi Charles and welcome to the forum,

Did James and Frances immigrate to the US? Do you have any idea when?
Where did they immigrate to. Names of children? Do you know Frances's maiden name?

Hi misbris

James and Frances ended up in falls county in Texas. I think they became Americans. It is my great grandfather that I am having problems finding. James and Frances had my dad, Charlie Salvato. I don't know Frances maiden name. I do know that they are all fool blooded Italians. I checked Elis Island and wasn't able to draw definative conclusion

Cheers

Charlie,

Do you have the 1910 US Census for the family?
It states they came in 1889... does that sound right?

Tessa

I am not sure . I just looked and it has a Jim Salvato for the year 1902. That is the year he was born. Thirteen year gap. As I was looking over the census last night I discovered that most of the Salvatos came within a 30 year span

On the 1910 US Census, I also noticed that this was marriage #2 for Charles (the father), but first marrige for Annie (the mother)...
That might explain the large gap in time...

I asked my dad about Annie and it didn't ring a bell but one can never know. I found somethin interesting to me. Some of the names in the census maybe wrong and perhaps the dates. What do you think?

After I get my geat grandfathers name and birthplace and if he was born in Sicily. Who would I write to to get the certificate?

the way I understand it is get bith certificates from myself, father, grandfather, great grandfather and send a copy to Italy and then the confirm the info. Is this the proceedure to get citizenship ?

It's a little more complicated than that...
And first you need to find out if you qualify...

Here are some links that may help...

I see that now. Thank you for the very useful links.

Ancestors naturalized before July 1st 1912 cannot transmit citizenship (Law n. 555 of June 13, 1912) is interesting
