Hi, I am looking for my great-grandfather George Castello. He was born October 15, 1835 in Milan, Italy. He came to the United States in 1854. I cannot find immigration records or records from Milan, Italy on his birth. Can anyone help me. Also I am not positive his last name was Castello in Italy. His marriage and death record list him as George Castello. His fathers name was George Castello too.

George had three wives. Mary Ingersoll was his first wife. They had two children, Elizabeth and Mary. His second wife is Maribel Woodruff Georgia Anna, Oliver, Artur and Lilia and Julia and Mae are from his third marriage to Julia Castello. George and Julia are my great grandparents.

it is probable that the surname was Castello or Castelli, Castiello.. maybe George could be no the first name; in italian spell George is Giorgio..
I cannot find the 1870 census, that maybe could be helpful also...

but the next best thing is the Immigrant Ship Transcribers Guild site...
