Birth Record Translation Help

Post by JOHN08 »

My translation of this birth record:

On the 8th of May 1898, appeared Pasquale Terranova, age: 42, profession: peasant farmer, living: Acri, who declared that his wife, Rosaria ?, profession: peasant farmer, gave birth to a female baby named Anna.

The two witnesses: Francesco Nocelli, age: 38, profession: peasant farmer and Gaetano Ritano ?, age: 30, profession: peasant farmer.

Appreciate any corrections/additions.

John

I think Rosaria's last name is Strafaci.
I cannot decipher what is written in the field for the date of birth, but she was born at 6:15 at Contrada Croce (??) or Cerace (??)

Maybe Ritacco is last name of Gaetano

I know that the surnames Straface and Ritacco are correct. I had a cousin (now deceased) whose mother's ancestry was from the town, and I did a lot of research of the town's microfilmed records for him.

Donna,

Somehow we must have. I honestly never saw you, when I hit the reply button. Sorry.

As to the street name, it's hard to say for sure, as it doesn't appear to currently exist in the town.
