help reading surname
I have a death record from Berzano di San Pietro (Asti) and am stuck with the name of the wife of the deceased. Can somebody help? I am referring to the surname of Catterina. It looks like "Vittel", which doesn't appear to be a surname (though perhaps I didn't find it in the profiler only because it isn't Italian). I'm not actually sure about the first letter. I'm hoping somebody can help.
Re: help reading surname
possibly Vittel which, I believe, is of German origin

I also agree with Vittel
If you look at the "V" in Vincenzo (name of first declarant) it is formed the same way.

Re: help reading surname
Thank you both. I read Vittel also, but I wasn't perfectly confident! Since the record doesn't indicate that she was deceased at the time (but also no explicit indication that she was living), is it reasonable to assume she was living? There is also no mention that Michele was a widower, so I am guessing she outlived him.
Re: help reading surname
the record just reads that he was married to Catterina-does not say if she was still alive or not, but since he is not called a widower, I am guessing she may have still been alive when he died
