GENCARELLI need help with first name
GENCARELLI need help with first name
This is the portion of a document from 1844, Santa Sofia d'Epiro, Cosenza, Calabria. On the last line, I can't make out the first name, which looks like Furbia. Thanks for any help.
Re: GENCARELLI need help with first name
If the 3rd and 4th letters were reversed I'd say Fulvia.
Furbia? Furlia? Furtia? None of those seem to be real names.

Re: GENCARELLI need help with first name
There is a female given name Feridia, but the image seems to be missing the first "i" and the ending appears to be "tia"...
And if the end letters were reversed as carubia mentioned, then you might consider Fiorita.

Faustina without the "n"?
I suggest looking for more records.

I am also reading Furbia in this document. This name doesn't appear on any of the lists I have for Italian girls names but I have seen the name Furbia before.

Solved! A researcher in Italy explained to me that it did say "Furbia," and: The correct name is Fulvia. The form "Furbia" is dialectical. The "Furbia" form is also typical of Acri's speech. Thanks to all who commented.
