Help with 1900 travel document

Post by KKLargey »

I have a document that belonged to my great grandmother dated 1900. My grandfather said it was her passport, but it appears to be some other type of travel document. It is a single sheet, 11 inches wide and 15 inches tall. Maria Bruno is listed as the traveler, age 36. But the left side column lists a person aged 59.

Can someone identify this document?

I scanned it on two pages because it is so long. I posted it here

Many thanks.

This travel document is issued to Lucia Panaro, age 59, daughter of deceased Antonio.
It appears that she is traveling to New York with her unmarried daughter, Maria Bruno, age 36, to join her other children, Michelangelo and Antonia Bruno.

The description on the left side is of Lucia, not Maria.
Italian women travel under their maiden name.

this document is specifically referred to as a passport and also has a stamp at the bottom showing passaporto-due lire-the cost of the document
