Sorce in Mussomeli
Re: Sorce in Mussomeli
In the 1825promessa it says the father Salvadore died in 1818 and the grandfather died in 1795. The 1828 promessa just reversed these 2 dates.

On the next page of that promessa, it has the dates of death of the father and grandfather of the groom: 24 Jun 1818 and 4 Oct 1795, respectively. (So the groom' father was in fact deceased.) The bride's father died on 19 Sep 1817 or 1812.
That given name for the groom is a tough one. It doesn't completely look like Francesco. The first letter doesn't match the F in the bride's name, the middle letter looks like a g instead of a c, and then it looks like there is another name after it before the Sorce.
Thanks for chiming in carubia. I always appreciate your input.
True, it is a tough one, and it doesn’t look exactly like Francesco. However, if you look at the next marriage record, the bride's name is also Francesca Paola and the “f” is written very similarly to the Francesco in this record. Just the tail of the “f” isn’t closed so it is slightly different. Also, I’m not reading a “g” that has been later placed in the middle of Francesco. I am reading an “s” – Fran(s)cesco. I don’t know why he has added it. It looks like he has written it at the same time he filled in the church marriage details. He tends not to join the letters n and c and he’d left a bigger gap in Francesco. Like you, I can’t read the word after Francesco either.

Agreed. I had already explained this error in the 1828 record. Thanks for verifying.carubia wrote: 27 Feb 2025, 15:36 In the 1825 promessa it says the father Salvadore died in 1818 and the grandfather died in 1795. The 1828 promessa just reversed these 2 dates.

Hello, Angela, thank you so much for that. Info, unfortunately, they require you to physically go to a family search center, and the online link goes to that statement that one needs to visit the center

Which information? It's been a few days since I have worked on this and you did in fact say that you were visiting a Family Search Centre on 6 March, so if that is the case it shouldn't be a problem. You can take a look there. To save me going through and rereading everything, please link me to the post you are referring to. Thank you. (I'm glad you used my name this time as I don't always know if you are referring to me or to Carubia or someone else.)

Re: Sorce in Mussomeli
Hi again Linda
See my previous post first.
I’ve just whipped through all my posts and the following is the Family Search Link that I posted, which was to those amazing Church Records: https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/catalog/730190
If you click on the icon to the far right, even it if looks to be locked, click on it and everything will unlock for you. I’ve just tried it and was in fact looking through them last week. You have got some amazing records there going back to the 1500s.
(I just volunteer here when I can, as do most of us here. I have a weekly meeting to get to shortly and then a busy week ahead with family coming to stay so am out of bounds this week. I'm pleased I was able to solve the puzles for you last week.)
Take care, Angela

Re: Sorce in Mussomeli
Hello, Angela. Thank you again! I think the only thing that I didn't put a specific salutation to was when I said " thank you all" and I meant both you and currubia. Everything else was to whomever could help. Fortunately you did help very much. I just read this last .Sorry I didn't respond earlier. . I understand that you just volunteer. Didn't mean to make you read the post again? I am appreciative of all your help. I did click on the lock and it alerted me to go to the center. Yes, I will be visiting them on the sixth And hopefully that will allow me to View it. i am guessing because I do not have any paid subscriptions it may put limitations on, am I viewing? Hope you have a fantastic rest of your week. And thanks again

Hi Linda
No problem at all. It was my pleasure to help.
Just a quick reply. Sorry you are not able to view the links to the Church Records. For some reason I thought you had an account with Family Search. It is not a paid subscription, it's just basically a sign-in account so that you can view their records. What should happen is, after you click on the icon to unlock the records, it will ask you to sign in first. If you don't have a "sign in account" just scroll down and click on "Create a Free Account" and follow the prompt. It asks you for your first name, last name, birth date and asks you to create a user name and a password and that hopefully will give you access to those Church records. They'll be able to help you with this, if needed, when you visit Family Search on the 6th.
Best to you with this.

Re: Sorce in Mussomeli
Hello Angela, thank you for your kind guidance. I do have an account with Family Search but i am not a member of their church. I use FS as my main online tree but have a hard copy tree too. It visually is more effective for me. I have a cousin in Santa Margherita di Belici now offering to contact a friend of his named Sorce connected to Sutera. Francesco sorce son of giuseppe and maria lombardo Sorce has a brother vincenzo.
I am wanting to find Vincenzo's info as i am convinced it will end up being related. Francesco Sorce first married Giuseppa Neri from Sutera...It is so exciting to move forward. I am determined to complete my tree this time as i am not young. lol
I hope you have a fantastic rest of your week. Here it is Mardi Gras in New Orleans area where i live.
Best,
Linda
