Yes, I noticed that it showed that Sant’Elena was a subsidiary parish of Santa Maria di Gesu. Had never before seen this. I think it means that Sant’Elena did not have a resident parish priest, but that a priest did go there to say Mass and possibly for other religious reasons. So no ...

Hi Pippo
Actually, it was mmogno who initially found the parish in a list from the archdiocese of Monreale. The link that I was initially posting at the same time as him was for a Wikipedia article for a parish in the city of Palermo, and not in Corleone, with the same name. Then when I saw his ...

I believe it’s the abbreviation we’ve seen before for Giovanni. So that should be the groom’s father and yes, Susanna, was the mother. Her maiden name not given.

From what I’m seeing online, the parish of Sant’Elena is in the historic district of Corleone and an easy walk to the parish of San Martino there.

Did you see what mmogno and I posted under locations in Italy re Santa Elena? It is a parish in Corleone. If that parish had a scheduling conflict, or the priest was ill, etc, it’s possible that the parish of San Martino, also in Corleone, allowed the marriage to take place there instead. If ...

Re: Help with baptismal for Leoluca Finocchio
Hi Mary
Baptism of Leoluca Finocchio, on April 27, 1653 but born yesterday, to Vincenzo and Laurea Finochio, spouses. Godparents were Antonino Mundello and Caterina Azzarrello.
The word after Finocchio should be a form of jugalius, which is Latin for spouses or a married couple. Laurea’s maiden ...

Re: santa Elena
The abbreviation is for Santa. I’m wondering if it’s referring to Santa Helena/Elena e Costantino. I see the first letter as an H in the record.
I’m going to post a link to the Wikipedia article about it. Will be right back.

I think the word after Francesco LaScala on p 257 is garzone-an apprentice or errand boy maybe? I see the word after a lot of the names.
