Re: mazara del vallo

Linda

From what I’m reading online, the diocese of Mazara del Vallo is a subordinate of the Archdiocese of Palermo. Currently no online records for any of the churches in Mazara.

P. 831 right side

Domenico was the last of the 4 witnesses (testimonio). The first two were sacerdoti- the word in front of those is singular-sacerdote for priest.

Re: Translate Birth Record

Ron
The record is out of focus if you try to enlarge it to decipher it. Please post the link to the record as mmogno has said. Otherwise, we can't help you translate it.
Thanks.

Re: What is the occupation?

Yes, "marinaio" sailor.

Master seaman, as he has the designation "Maestro" before his name.

I don’t agree with the occupation being that of a master seaman. For one thing, Marineo is inland and does not have direct access to the sea. I think, in the first record, the occupation is clearly ...

Chris

I personally think there’s a good chance that Grazia Profida was Paolino’s natural mother, but without documentation to prove it, I think the possibility will always remain a mystery.

Re: Paolino Arnone and Cira Greco 1856 Marineo Marriage

I meant to add earlier that, since the prospective groom had been previously married to Cira’s now deceased sister, he and his reputation were already known to her family members who served on this family council. So I think the purpose of convening this council was really a formality to provide the ...

Re: Paolino Arnone and Cira Greco 1856 Marineo Marriage

From page 430-432

Are these the individuals responsible for the "family council"? If so did they mention any merits or shortcomings?

Francesco DiLorenzo, son of dec Paolino, age 21
Ciro DiLorenzo, son of dec Paolino, age 27

The above two individuals, and Cira's brother, made up the three ...
