>I click on red pin and it takes to map quest and Africa. ??? What am I >doing wrong? Is it my computer?
The map problem you've had has been there for quite a while. From the "Locations in Italy" database on this site, the red pin for the map of a location always goes to Africa. It used to work ...

Re: Searching for My Family
Go to www.torricellapeligna.com It's all about the town and has lots of genealgy data. It is managed by several descendants of the town who are very knowledgeable and visit there often -- one is a Porecca (sp?).

Re: Casaretti from Chiavari area
Hello again, did you ever hear anything from Chiavari or Ne? When is your trip? If I can figure out a way to find your email address, I'll send my Chiavari travel info in an off-forum message.

Only a small part of the Province of Genoa has been filmed by the Family History Library -- Genoa City and a few other comunes. Santa Margherita has not been filmed. Civil records in that area begin in 1866. Because your ancestor was born in the 1700s, you would have to find church records. As far a ...

Re: how can i find more about Torriglia
There are no microfilms for Torriglia on familysearch.org. The Mormon Church has not yet filmed in that part of Province of Genoa. I have had good success writing to the comune of Torriglia. However, civil records begin in 1866. Anything earlier would require writing to the church which is not so ...

Re: Casaretti from Chiavari area
Just reread your original post. Start with their marriage. Since it was in 1869, there will be a civil record. And that will give their birthplaces along with parents' names. It is most likely in the comune of the bride, but there's a good chance they were both from the same comune.

Re: Casaretti from Chiavari area
The hamlet of Casaretti is in the comune of Ne. Ne is in the Val Graveglia, just east and a little bit south of Chiavari. Because your ancestors were born in 1852, you'll have to find their parish to get birth records. Civil records in that area start in 1866. Some parishes in the area are very ...

Gorle, Prov of Bergamo
I have a book about the history of the parish church of Gorle in the Province of Bergamo which I would be happy to send to anyone with an interest in that town for the cost of postage. I was there in Sept helping a friend find ancestors and the parish priest gave each of us a copy. I don't need it ...

Jim,
Did you ever get an answer on this? I'm curious too -- for one of my nieces.

Re: Family Members Dual Citizenship
Yes, you read that correctly. You can all submit together with one set of the common documents. When my sister and I did it (at the NYC consulate), we submitted for her children too (age 20 and 24 at the time).

Comune di Tribogna missing?
The Locations in Italy database is a terrific resource.
However, when I searched it for the comune (aka "township") of Tribogna, it said not found. I tried Piandeipreti, one of the frazione of Tribogna and came up with a list of towns, hamlets etc which were shown as belonging to the "township" of ...

Re: Records at Basilica di San Salvatore dei Fieschi
This is going back a ways ... did you ever find out about records at the Basilica dei Fieschi? I would guess its records were not available vs. not existing. Many parishes in that area don't have a resident priest. He comes only occasionally to say mass or do a funeral. Even if he resides at a ...

It's been a year, so I imagine you found the parish but just in case....
Castegnelo is a frazione of the comune of Lorsica. There is a parish in Castegnelo. Moconesi is another comune. There are several parishes there.

Re: Applying for Italian Citizenship at NY Consulate
The NYC consulate is quite good. They don't require that non-italian documents be translated into Italian. They do (at least when we did it a few years ago) require that city residents bring docs in person. For other parts of their jurisdiction, it could be done by mail.
