Re: It has gotten ridiculous

I'm not sure living in Italy would be the right move for you, since you would probably lose your mind due to Italian bureaucracy. Booking the appointment (in Boston) is probably the most frustrating part of the process, but a little patience and determination should help.

I do have a few ...

Re: Just starting and a little overwhelmed...help??

Here's a link to the request forms you should fill out: https://it.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/obtaining-vital-records/

You should also write a letter in Italian to the Ufficio Anagrafe in Tuso. I would also email the archives of Messina to see if they have ...

Re: Should I even attempt this ordeal?

Sorry to hear that. Before you give up, I would check to see when the 1920 census states he naturalized. If it is within 5 years of his immigration it is probably not accurate. Is his wife listed as naturalized? Lastly, if your grandfather was still alive in the 1940's you could check the Alien ...

Remarriage After Death of Wife

Hello,

I am working on my Jure Sanguinis application, which is through my GGGF>GGF>GM>M>IO. My GGGM died in Philadelphia (1903) a few years after giving birth (1897) to my GGF. My GGGF subsequently remarried my GGF's mother-in-law around 1919.

Would I need her vital records? She appears on the ...

Re: Should I even attempt this ordeal?

Well, I don't think the 1930 census will necessarily eliminated your qualification (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Your grandfather could have naturalized after 1922, but before 1930, which would mean you still qualify. Also, I would refer to the 1920 census; if it states that he is stil an AL ...

Re: Boston appointments for trade

I would book an appointment ASAP, the next available is May 2018. The booking system will open up again on March 6th.

Re: First name headaches

Have you sent requests to the comune yet? I would contact the provincial archives in case the comune takes a while, plus they might have a contact at the comune as well. Here's a link to the Provincial Archives. Once you get on their page, I would contact the person via e-mail who is listed on the ...

Re: First name headaches

Hi,

Which province was your grandmother born in? Some provinces have an archive where they can provide you with photocopies (not certified) of the vital records for you to use as reference. I was able to successfully do so fairly quickly in Salerno.

I've made two requests to USCIS for ...

Re: Boston appointments for trade

Hey,

Yesterday I found a slot open on March 14th that I grabbed just in case my paperwork somehow was ready early. There is little chance that it will, so if that date works for your sister I would be glad to cancel it.

What does she need to do before then?

Re: Trouble with the appointment system

Ok. If you do can you ask them what time the calendar opens?

Thanks

Re: Trouble with the appointment system

Are you trying to book with the Boston Consulate? I was successfully able to book my appointment last May after a couple of tries, but was unsuccessful last month when I tried to book my cousin's appointment. I didn't get that error message last month though.

I would call the consulate tomorrow ...

Re: Starting the long process

I'm pretty sure that your GGF only had to naturalize after your GF was born. It would be different if your GF was born in Italy, immigrated with his father, and then his father naturalized while he was a minor (as is the case with my paternal GF).

The only other requirement in your case is that ...

Translation of Documents

Hi,

I am getting ready to have my documents translated into Italian before my appointment with the Boston Consulate on April 25th. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a professional translator in the northeast region that charges a reasonable price?

Also, do I need to translate the documents ...
