Hi -
My great grandfather Pomponio Mariani was a foundling, but was acknowledged in February 1904 when his father Nicolamaria Anzuino visited the Consulate in Montreal to officially recognize him. Word was sent to Gambatesa, where in March of 1904 Nicolamaria's wife, Maria Incoronata Colavita ...

Help with handwritten portion of Marriage Act
Hello -
I'm trying to understand the various connections between ancestors and thus have a handful of marriage documents where I'll need to be able to read dates and names.
I've been amazed at how kind people are in this forum, and I don't want to take advantage of the goodwill of those who take ...

The record number appears in the margin of the birth record as N.4 seconda parte
I don't know anything about the consul in Montreal, sorry.

Re: margin note on birth record, foundling acknowledgement?
The records on the antenati website for the town only go to 1903. For the 1904 record referenced by mmogno, you'd have to go to a local family history center to locate it on their computer.

Hello -
My great grandfather was born on May 12 1884 in Gambatesa, and as a foundling was given the name Pomponio Mariani. From what I've been able to tell so far, his birth was later acknowledged (February 1904?) by his birth father. I've found the original document, and believe the detail is in ...
