Re: ABBONDANZA
I would like to state that my last name literally means abundance . Now, obviously my last name would be Abbondanza, but when my great-grandfather came over from Catania, Sicily it was spelled Baudanza. @ Ellis Island it was then changed to Bandanza which is my official last name. The Sicilian ...

My great-grandfather Francesco Barresi and great-grandmother Caterina Nolfo, came to the US with their oldest (and at the time only) child, 1 yr old ...

Re: Translating “Sebastiano Abbondanza”
Thank you! If these photos and links are of the birth of Sebastiano Abbondanza, would the links I posted in my original post be for his death? Could you also help me in a translation confirming he is a foundling?

One of my direct ancestors, Sebastiano Abbondanza, was a foundling. I have these documents for him, but I have trouble reading the handwriting and translating it ...

Re: Searching for Birth Parents of Grazia Dangello
Wow that is interesting. Would the last names D’Angelo and DeAnglo be interchangeable? I think the last name “D’Angelo” is the one that matches the most according to my findings.

Re: Marriage of Pietro Monopoli and Donata Sasso
The naming of Italian children follows a tradition, not a rule.
The first born son named after the paternal grandfather, second son after maternal grandfather; first daughter after paternal grandmother, second after the maternal grandmother, was the tradition. It was not a requirement.

All of them in my line (Papagni, Sasso, and Monopoli) seemed to come from Italy and ...
