Can anyone make out Nunziata Fortunato's mothers name? One link is index and other actual doc. Names look different on each. Looks like L in index and F or Z in actual doc. her first name too is spelled different. Looks like Persia or Pegna don't know.

I am reading Porsia Laino.
But one could also make the argument for surname Zaino.

Laino is a surname that appears in Marsico. I don't see Zaino.
Researching Gibellina, Sicily surnames Bivona, Bonafede, Zummo, Ponzio, Bevinetto, Beninati, Fontana, Cipolla, Bruno, Manfrè, Lanfranca, and Navarra

Ellen
I believe Porsia's surname is Coiro, which is found in the town. My reason: before the antenati website went offline, I saw in one of the indices, death info for a sister of Nunziata named Rosa. She died within a few years of her, but I never got a chance to locate the record, as the website went offline. I have since located baptism records for Rosa and Nunziata. I am hoping the antenati website will be back online when I get up in the morning so that I can confirm the info I see in the baptism records. If I confirm the info, I will then post the links to the baptism records and translate them for you.

Here's Rosa's death record. The age at death is only off by one and half years from the date of the baptism record I already gave you the link to. I still believe this is the correct family.

Jan 11, 1834 death of Rosa Fortunato, age 54, widow of Nunziato Coiro, daughter of Antonio (Fortunato) and Porsia Coiro

I think so too. The mothers name is too rare for it to be a different family
