Marriage bans info Sicily 1843
Re: Marriage bans info Sicily 1843
Accursia Sclfani died in 1888, so Antonino must've married Maria between 1888 and 1891. According to Maria's NY death cert she only had been living there a month when she died, so probably they married in Sciacca in 1888 or 1889 (since I've already checked the 1890 and 1891 marriage indexes).

Here is the 1889 marriage record of Antonino Vitale and Maria Corrao. Maria's parents were Antonino Corrao and Accursia Friscia.

He was born 14 Oct 1849 in Sciacca. It should be easy to find the record on Antenati.Rossonero3 wrote: 02 Oct 2017, 21:53 Antonino is listed as 23yrs old (b.1850, although i still can't find his birth record)

Btw, this marriage record answers my question about the number of marriages, it shows Antonino as being a widow, so Accursia Scalfani WAS his 1st marriage, Maria Corrao the 2nd, Accursia La Rocca 3rd.

Thanks for this, great find! I have to admit that in the regions that i've done research in, this one I have the hardest time reading. Anyways, few questions regarding info in this document:Tessa78 wrote: 02 Oct 2017, 22:50 That is understandably confusing...
Here is the transcribed death of Maria Corrao, recorded in 1903.
It mentions that she was married, but I do not see a husband named.
Her father was Antonino, and her mother was Accursia...
She died of pneumonia (polmonite)

1) I assume the hash marks mean they are quoting someone's testimony right? EDIT: or using hash marks because they are translating from the english certificate in New York?
2) the date listed for Jan 21 1899, is that the date of the testimony?
3) It looks like it lists the name of the cemetery but i can't make it out, can anyone else?
4) I can't quite make out what the first paragraph says on the 2nd page, was there a correction?
5) On page 2 it lists the place of birth of the parents but I can't make out what it says following

1) They are quoting from a translation of an English death certificate.
2) 21 Jan 1899 is when this copy of the death certificate was issued.
3) The cemetery was Calvary, in Queens, the largest Catholic cemetery in NY.
4) The first paragraph on the 2nd page (continued from the bottom of the 1st page) is just boilerplate.
5) Her place of death was a tenement at 250 Elisabeth St. That's in Little Italy in Manhattan. The person who reported the death on the previous page (Giuseppe Lapenta) was also residing in Little Italy, on Mott St.

Are you more interested in Accursia Sclafani or Maria Corrao? This is what I know about their ancestors at present:

Here's what I have on Accursia La Rocca:

There's only one more record to find that should be easily obtainable and would help you go back further: the death record of Giuseppe La Rocca, who died no earlier than 1855. (His parents were almost certainly Michelangelo La Rocca and Lucia Maniscalco.) Also, Maria Montalbano may have been alive in 1840, in which case her death record should be available, too, but it would probably be difficult to find it, since her name is so common and she may have remarried before 1820.

Re: Marriage bans info Sicily 1843
Giuseppe La Rocca died in 1859 and his parents were indeed Michelangelo La Rocca and Lucia Maniscalco. I have added the record to my tree.
It appears that Lucia Maniscalco died before 1816, Michelangelo married for the 2nd time to Anna Barone, and then he died in 1831, but there is one piece of information inconsistent with this hypothesis: According to the 1821 death record of Aurelia La Rocca, the daughter of Michelangelo and Lucia, both of her parents were still alive then. Probably this was an error, but I'm looking for some proof of this.

Great info again, I’ll see what can find, maybe there’s other siblings to corroborate the death of Lucia
