Re: marriage license date from ancestry.com
Be mindful that this is an index record of the application for a marriage license. The license would have been valid for 60 days from date of issue and could be used anywhere in New York State.

You wrote, "Costanza Savelloni, who travelled to the US with him." Do you have any document that shows she actually traveled to the US. I could not find one, either alone or with Adolfo.

Re: Certificate of Naturalization doesn't match my records
Bobny, dates and locations are different, but that mirrors the experience of my gf and is a common scenario.
I don't understand your point.
I am attempting to solve the OPs issue of inconsistent dates. He was not aware of Francesco's arrival in the US prior to 1931. The timeline solves that ...

Re: Certificate of Naturalization doesn't match my records
I don't understand the source of all this confusion. Unless I have an entirely different family, here is a timeline of Francesco's travels readily obtained from Ancestry.com

Re: Certificate of Naturalization doesn't match my records
This is where I am confused. So I am assuming the certificate is just a petition for his naturalization and not the actual date he was naturalized in New York?
No, the certificate is THE certificate; it is not the petition. Also, the petition, under most circumstances, cannot be filed until ...

Re: US citizen/Italian citizen atti di matrimonio question
Since the marriage was performed prior to the enactment of the Cable Act which became effective on September 22, 1922, Maria acquired derivative US citizenship simultaneously with her marriage. For women in her situation, the only proof of citizenship was the combination of the husband's ...

Re: Private Family Trees
Asking permission to root around in a stranger's private tree is a fool's errand.
As a 20+ year paid member of ancestry with a private tree, I would suggest a slightly different approach. Your chances of getting an invitation to access a private tree is very slim; even getting a response from the ...

Re: Birth record for Vito Gaetano Castellano - Positano
Thank you very, very much. I am having trouble reading the ages for the parents. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, the original difficulty I had was apparently not translating correctly Vito's age on his marriage act. What I read as 25 years old, you correctly concluded that he hadn't yet ...

Re: Record Access
You certainly can. You have the cert #, the borough and the date of death. That is all you need to order a copy from the Municipal Archives.darkerhorse wrote: 21 Mar 2021, 22:22 13 years in US suggests immigration in 1881.
Can anyone find that record?

Yes those are the index cards. I’m looking to get my hands on the actual passenger manifest, if still exists.
This is a very curious case. The Manilla definitely arrived in New Orleanson 20 Oct and was cleared by 22 Oct. There are various newspaper accounts including the Times-Democrat from 22 ...
