Re: Please Help Me Read This
Can someone please help me figure this out? It appears that the note in the margin of Francesco Tria's birth certificate (attached) says he married a Maria something in 1894, however they are not listed in the 1894 marriage archive: http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/v/Archivio+di+Stato+di ...

Re: Please Help! Which one is the correct guy?
Yes, many missing records.
You should write to the comune and ask for the marriage of Giovanni Abbenante and Giovannina De Felice.
Give a span of about 1877 - 1881... They will allow for a 5 year span.
The marriage will give your the parents of your Giovannni. (and possibly the grandfather ...

Re: Please Help! Which one is the correct guy?
I suggest you write directly to the Comune of Scafati and request Giovanni'a birth act :-)
I know this does not help your search for Giovanni Abbenante's parents names... but here is the family in the 1910 US Census with the name GROSSLY misspelled. :?
NOTE: Oldest son is Giuseppe... using ...

Re: Grosso and Mento Families Rometta
Sort of unrelated, but it's cool to know you might be related to Fabio Grosso, hero of the 2006 World Cup. He scored the extra time goal that put Italy ahead in the semifinal and then put in the last touch of the tournament with the winning penalty kick in the final: https://youtu.be/QC3gUjrOaPM?t=42s

Please Help! Which one is the correct guy?
Ciao amici - Perhaps you could give me some advice?
I am researching my ancestor Giovanni "John" Abbenante of Scafati. Ship manifests from Sept and Nov 1905 list him as 52, and there are THREE possible matches in the Salerno archives (http://www.archiviodistatosalerno.beniculturali.it/index.ph ...

Yes, her legacy has survived! I'm amazed such specific information has been preserved and posted from such a small town. I am excited to show my grandma the history of her great-great grandfather. Both that wheel and that book seem fairly harrowing...

Re: Death Record: Aurelio Massimo

There is no father mentioned. He was a foundling and it seems like the parents, even the mother did not want him to know who she was. Read below.[/color]
They then ordered that the child be given over to Maria Rosa Ventrella (it looks like it says to foster the child but maybe it ...

WOW Amazing!! You are absolutely brilliant, thank you so much for helping crack this case! This is a very sad story, but I'm glad to have figured it out.

Re: Please Help Me Read These Two Names
Hmm... this says Aurelio is 26 in 1849 so that would put his birth around 1823, not 1820. I think I may have the wrong couple...
I'm looking for an Aurelio Massimo and Maria Susca married before 1849, and I guess this Valerio Massimo and Maria Teresa Susco married 1843 are not quite it.

Re: Please Help Me Read These Two Names
Wow thanks again!
I'm confused by Valerio, though. The birth record for my ancestor Maria Rosa Massimo clearly says Aurelio is the father, so I wonder if this is not the right couple? Or, if he was a foundling, was there confusion with his name and it changed?
I went to the 1820 book of births and ...
