Re: Contarini & Cosmatos in 19th Century Italy & Greece

You will have a difficult time as during the period you are looking at, Venezia was under Austrian control through the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto and all records were kept at the local churches; there were no civil records in Veneto during this era.

Similarly, Rome was part of the Papal States ...

Re: Deciphering a stato delle anime from 1800s

This is a marriage record dated 16 Aug 1874 and unfortunately not a very good resolution image.
Groom is Habib son of deceased Calil Maglatun; no mother named; Greek Catholic
Bride is Carime daughter of deceased Hanna(?) Anfora; no father named; Greek schismatic

Both reconciled with the Roman ...

Re: Montaquila processetti records

Maybe, but you'll just have to search through 1809-1825 death records to see if they were in the civil records era. Since dates aren't provided for the deaths, there's no way to know for sure. They may be church records, in which case you would need to contact the parish church of Montaquila to ...

Re: Salerno Archives - website problems ?

Yes, for all the Italian state archive sites, if you are not accessing with a VPN or from within Italy, you will not be able to see the site outside of Italian "business hours". This is probably due to some security changes implemented by the DGA after a massive online attack a couple of years back ...

Re: Clarification on Italian birth records

Manifests were filled out at the port of embarkation, not upon arrival. So someone in Arkhangelsk would have done the transcription of the name as it was given (and may have been phonetically, especially if the person giving their name was illiterate).

The "camera with key" icon can be misleading. Behind the scenes, there may be one or more of the following access permissions associated with a particular DGS item:

UNREST - Unrestricted access
REG_PAT - Only accessible when logged in
AFFILIATE - Accessible at a FamilySearch Affiliate Library

Re: Saving high resolution records on Antenati?

On the left side menu (the "hamburger"), click the information tab ("i" in a circle), then scroll down to the IIIF manifest link. Open that link (it helps to have a JSON formatting extension in Chrome or use the one built into Firefox), then search for "pag. #" (the page number of the image you want ...

Re: Translation of birth documents for Vito Schiralli and Antonia Petruzzelli

I know this is almost a year old, but I can't resist a Modugno post. The marriage date is 1904.

Re: Difficulty opening pictures from Antenati SAN's website

There is a workaround to the dreaded "Platform Error". It's not elegant but it works (except in cases where the image itself is truly missing due to a corrupted file).

If when clicking on the thumbnail (whether the thumbnail is present or if it is a broken link) you get the platform error, here is ...
